Niger NYSC Orientation Camp Shut Over Infrastructural Deficits

Infrastructural decay at the permanent orientation camp of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in Paiko, Paikoror Local Government Council, may have forced the handlers of the scheme in Niger State to redeploy the 500 youths corps members posted to the state for their mandatory one year national service programme to Kaduna to avert calamity and shame.

Again, lack of state government’s concern and support to the NYSC in Niger State may have largely contributed to the redeployment of 500 graduates from tertiary institutions across Nigeria posted to the state and who reported to the camp last Monday, were hurriedly rounded up and taken to the Kaduna camp for their two weeks orientation programme and subsequent posting to places of primary assignment in the state.

The NYSC orientation camp at Paiko which used to be a secondary school, located some 25 kilometres away from Minna the state capital has been in state of disrepair due to years of neglect by the government.
